Step 5 - Stopping the Instance

As soon as your instance starts to boot, Amazon bills you for the resources it consumes. Once you have decided that you no longer require its services, you can terminate an instance using the instance ID. Issue the following command to stop your instance:

ec2-terminate-instances instance_id

You can also terminate your instance by selecting Shutdown from the Start menu while you are connected to it.
